The work you can do on the website is quite varied. Some of the things you might be doing are:
- checking and responding to emails
- meeting other people who work at the Council
- finding interesting images
- writing quizzes and polls
- editing stories
- presenting statistics
- fixing broken links
- publishing content.
This would be a great opportunity for people with a variety of interests.
- If you enjoy writing and are interested in journalism, editing or copywriting you would enjoy the editorial aspects of the role.
- If you like analysing and presenting data the statistical part of the job may appeal to you.
- If you are interested in web design and websites, you might enjoy using a content management system, usability testing and learning how a website is run.
- If you are interested in graphics you might enjoy sourcing and editing images.
- If you are interested in local government, you may enjoy the experience of working for the County Council.
We don’t expect you to be an expert at any of these things. We’re just looking for someone with a genuine interest.
As with most things in life you get out as much as you put in. You will:
- find out what it’s like to work in the real world
- try new things and challenge yourself
- have something impressive to put on your CV
- get to meet lots of people doing different jobs
- build confidence
- get a reference and
- get to work with lovely people!
You would be working one full day a month, 9.30am to 5pm
