How to write a YouthBank application

To help you write the best bid that you can, the young people who decide who receives a YouthBank grant have put together some guidelines.

How is my application scored?

Your application is scored by between three and six young people. All individual scores are collected and averaged up.
Your application is judged under three different categories.

  • ‘Need – is there a need for your project?
  • 'benefit’ – Who will benefit from it and what will the benefit be?
  • ‘Value for money’ – Will the project deliver a lot for the money that it is spent on it?
  • ‘Youth involvement’ – how are other young people involved in your project?

The categories ‘Need’ and ‘Youth involvement’ are the most important so make sure you spend time thinking about these sections.

What is the qualifying score?

All bids scoring 65% or over are supported. Bids that fall just below or just make the minimum score are looked at by a second panel.
Youth panels may call the applicants to ask for further information.
