The different bus companies in East Sussex each run different discounted fares for young people. The best choice for you will depend on:
- your age
- where you are going, and
- which buses you need to use.

If you are from a low income family you may be able to get free travel to and from school.

If you travel on a Brighton & Hove bus, you can get discounts on one-way and journeys and Saver tickets with a free busID card until the age of 18.

Under 16s
Stagecoach offer a free Discount ID card to anyone up to school year 11, which lets you pay half the adult fare on one-way and return journeys in Eastbourne and Wealden districts and Hastings.
You can also buy:
- a reduced price weekly Eastbourne Megarider ticket for journeys within the town, or
- a Megarider Plus for journeys in and around Eastbourne and Stagecoach services north via Heathfield and Uckfield to Tunbridge Wells.

Over 16s
Stagecoach do not offer any discounts for over 16s. You could buy a Freedom bus ticket with a Choice iD card, although an adult-priced Megarider ticket may work out better for you, depending on what buses you get.
If you're under 19, you can now get cheaper bus travel with a Choice iD card and a Freedom bus ticket. The free Choice iD card allows you to buy an East Sussex Freedom bus ticket for £14 from the bus driver. You don't even need to go to school or college. The Freedom ticket gives you unlimited travel on almost any bus in East Sussex for seven days in a row, including weekends.
How can I get a Choice iD card?
Just download and complete the Choice iD application form and then take it with a passport photo and proof of age to:
- your school or college if they are issuing the Choice iD card – just check in advance first
- any East Sussex library.
