East Sussex Music Service summer school


If you love music and want to play over the summer, why not come along to the East Sussex Music Service summer school? It runs in July each year during the school day.

It’s a great chance for you to really focus on your music, learn from the best and have the chance to perform. You’ll meet loads of new people – over 1,000 musicians take part each year!

What courses can I do?

With over 50 courses to choose from, there’s bound to be something for you, from the flute to the electric guitar! There are courses for beginners in their first year of learning, and bands and orchestras for more experienced players.

New for 2011

  • If you're a young singer and want to develop your vocal skills you can sign up for the 'Big Summer Sing' course – course 33 in the brochure.
  • There's a short two-day violin course for younger players –course 34 in the brochure.
  • This year the Calderdale Guitar Ensemble joins our own advanced guitarists in a guitar festival in Lewes – course 14 in the brochure.
  • The East Sussex Youth Orchestra tours the Netherlands for the first time in August.

Costs

  • one day courses - £20
  • two day courses - £40
  • three day courses - £60
  • four day courses - £80
  • five day courses - £100.

There are a number of concessionary fees available for families on low incomes.

Where does the summer school take place?

Many of the longer courses take place in Eastbourne or Lewes. Special buses are laid on for some courses across East Sussex.
