South Downs Percussion Ensemble


If you love playing percussion and are grade 6 or above, why not join the South Downs Percussion Ensemble?

We have 10 players aged between 14 and 18. We perform all different kinds of music using classical percussion instruments as well as electronic, African and South American instruments.

Recent performances

We have recently played at the annual county percussion concert with other percussion ensembles from all over the country. We also performed ‘Carmina Burana’ with the East Sussex Community Choir in March 2009.

Rehearsals

We rehearse on a Wednesday afternoon, 5.15pm to 6.30pm at the Performing Arts Centre in Lewes.

The director is the Music Service’s Percussion Coordinator Grant Allardyce.

Did you know?

A percussion instrument produces a sound by being hit, shaken, rubbed or scraped. Examples include a drum, cymbal, tambourine and bell.
