'I did a Business Administration Apprenticeship' – Steph's story

My name is Stephanie and I am 22. I decided to apply for an apprenticeship because I wanted to change my career and felt that it would be a good way to gain experience of working in an office as well as gaining recognised qualifications.

The training

I attended training courses and workshops organised by my employer and completed coursework based on my job role.

What qualifications did you get?

  • NVQ (National Vocational Qualification) Level 2 in Business and Administration
  • Level 2 Award in Administration
  • Clait Plus Level 2
  • Key Skills Level 2 in Communication
  • Key Skills Level 1 in Application of Number

If you know what you want to achieve and take advantage of the training on offer, it’s a great stepping stone.

What was the toughest part?

I think it can be challenging to juggle your workload and your NVQ work but with a supportive manager, planning ahead and good time management you can overcome this.

What did you enjoy most?

The chance to meet lots of new people and gain new skills that would further my career.

What advice would you give to someone else considering an apprenticehsip?

I would say go for it! I really enjoyed my apprenticeship. It’s a great way to learn new skills and gain on the job experience as well as the chance to meet some great people.
